Time have changed from your Grandma's crumbles, cookies and cheesecakes. So have the ingredients. The Toronto Vegetarian Association sent out a call for all culinary creatives and whisking wizard to concoct their best dessert without using any dairy, eggs, cheese, butter or honey. In other words 100% vegan.
The second annual Totally Fabulous Vegan Bake-off featured veteran and first time entrants, and well over 200 hungry attendees. The categories which varied from the best use of local ingredients, to best decorated and even most valuable baking tip proved to all in attendance that desserts need not rely on the old formulas for success. In this new era, of local, organic, green, ethical and healthier eating the Totally Fabulous Vegan Bake-off made not only a well needed statement, but also our mouths water.
Congratulations to the Toronto Vegetarian Association for the hugely successful event, Lisa for her hard work and vision, and the celebrity judges who played the most and least envied role. Thanks and we'll see you again next year!
