Melt in Your Hearts Not in Your Hands: Michael & Marian’s Engagement Photos

When Michael and Marian (sweetly known as M&M) told us that they wanted a creative shoot, we were ready to let our photographic souls soar. Walking in heels over metal and glass, Marian bravely overcame the physical terrain for ‘the shot.' They are our kind of couple, pushing boundaries, breaking rules and placing trust in our photographic vision.

The Glamour and Grunge: Priya & Sunny's Trash the Dress Shoot Part 2

For those of you who've asked to see more of Priya's photos, here are a few more pictures from the day! Note to future brides, the key to getting great shots is pushing the limits, thinking out of the box and trusting your photographers ;)

The Glamour and Grunge: Priya & Sunny's Trash the Dress Shoot Part 1

As a little girl Priya dreamed Princess dreams adorned with all the riches & glamour such visions come with...fast forward 20 years later and we find ourselves in the streets of Toronto under the Gardner bridge "trashing" the dress she rocked on her wedding day. 

When presented with the unique idea of trashing an Indian bridal outfit, she shrugs her shoulder and says, "I'm never going to use again right?" We love it when couples push the limits and go out on a limb with us. Priya your dress may not last a lifetime, but we hope that the memories we created will remind you to always be full of adventure and to walk on the wild side once in a while :)

Something in the Way She Moves: David and Sarah's Wedding Photos

When David and Sarah told us that they wanted the wonderful song "Something in the Way She Moves" as their wedding song, we knew that it was a perfect reflection of their devotion. Everything in the way they move is infused with passion for one another!

When Love Comes to Town: David and Sarah's Wedding Teaser

If we have ever seen two people perfectly suited for each other, it is without question David & Sarah. A love so enigmatic and radiant is rare and unique. Their tenderness with each other in speech, touch and most importantly eyes gave us all a glimpse of what true love looks like. 

We were touched to be part of this unforgettable day! Thank-you David & Sarah for being a beacon of love for us all.

Navira and Fayad's Wedding Journal: Part 2

The moments before the wedding are the most tender. The uniqueness of these moments are often beyond words, luckily however the magic of a photograph affords the viewer an interpretation all their own.

Weddings are powerful. They evoke all types of emotions and at any time. No other day can contrast such elation and tears. Even though we have trained ourselves to fight back tears (critically importat as a wedding photographer) we also occasionally find ourselves a little misty. . .

In the middle of the wedding day where family members are putting out fires, people are constantly vying for attention. We like to take the couple away for a private shoot where they can relax and just be themselves. Often this is the first chance the bride and groom have to take a moment to reflect with each other on this momentous day. 

 

Song & dance are pretty much the only requirements for an Asian wedding....well that and a bride & groom. Navira’s closest friends put together a high energy coreographed traditional dance number that wowed everyone. Not to be out-shown, Fayed’s boys upped the ante by dropping,  jumping and pulling out all the moves. The winner of this danceoff... our cameras of course!

Navira and Fayad's Wedding Journal: Part 1

Anyone who has every been with an Asian bride knows all to well the challange leading up to the wedding day. Being reminded of what you should eat, how much you should exercise  etc... what they don’t tell you is that they are strengthning you up for the 30lb wedding dress you’ll be wearing!

The idea of getting ready for guys is not nearly as daunting as it is for girls. Shower, shave, shirt, shoes... and throw in some pants for good measure. Ahh.. but it is not as easy as it seams. Try doing all that while putting out fires on your iphone because you don’t want your lovely bride to be burdened by anything on the big day. Want the proof, just look at the cell phone bill for that month. 

We have never seen a wedding yet that had made itself. There is always a entourage of aunts, uncles, cousins buzzing around the hive each with their task in making this a truly unforgettable day. One of the most dedicated workers bees we have come across were Navira’s aunts. Working diligently since the wee hours of the morning, they hand assembled every boutineer with artistic grace. As a side benifit the scent in the room was fit for a bride... good thing since this was the bridal suite. 

The first look at a face familar enough you could draw it blindfolded. A moment perhaps when one finally realizes that they have made the best decision in choosing a life partner. While we were around for this memorable moment, we also made a stelthy exit to give Navira & Fayed a few moment sans chapperone. 

An Evening at St. Lawrence Market: Jennifer and Andrew's Engagement Shoot

On a beautiful summer day, we had the pleasure to shoot Jennifer and Andrew at their favorite shopping location (and it's becoming ours too!) at St. Lawrence market. The market area lent itself to great photos from beautiful murals to the bustling of city life, it had it all!

Thank-you Jennifer and Andrew for making our day that much more fun and we can't wait for your gorgeous Casa Loma wedding! :)

Shastyna and Vibhu's Wedding Day

Sanskrit prayers echoed the halls as Shastyna and Vibhu exchanged ancient Indian prayers proclaiming their union in love and service. The emotion was palpable throughout the day as friends and family came to give their love and support to this wonderful couple.

Shastyna's creative influence could be felt throughout the wedding day in the little details which enhanced every nook of the temple hall. Both her and her creative team brought to life the theme of an ancient "Vrindavan Forest."

We love shooting South Asian weddings not only because they feel so regal, but because they are so full of emotion. Navira and Fayad's wedding had it both. While we take the next few days to work through the entire reel, we just couldn't help sharing with you some of the reasons that make South Asian weddings so powerful.
